SETTING: Set in a Lanna-style house with a small bar at one end and an art display at the other. A cosy and funky atmosphere. Will be relocating to 352/104 Soi Paitana, South Pattaya mid 2007.
FOOD: Chef and owner Jose Cohen is decidedly French and this is reflected in the menu, the food and in Jose himself. It is best to ask what he recommends and follow it as he completely dominates the venue, moving between kitchen, bar and tables. The menu is in a wonderful mixture of French and English. The home-made terrines are excellent and sot-l'y-laisse honey and soya salad is an interesting dish with honey-glazed chicken oyster pieces on the salad. For a dish which is again typically French, try five hours lamb and flageolets (French kidney beans). This slow-cooked casserole is definitely one of Jose's specials, and if on the menu should certainly be considered.
WINE: Some 20 labels that are predominantly French and inexpensive.
SERVICE: A couple of waitresses will deliver food to the table, if Jose is otherwise busy.
PRICE: Dinner for two, without wine, will cost about 1,200 baht. |
