SETTING: A relaxed white-walled dining room with contrasting dark
wood furniture and contemporary Thai artefacts.
FOOD: Start off with grilled island lobster tail served on a bed of
young garden greens, oven-dried tomatoes and a yellow mango
and balsamic jam. Or caesar salad prepared fresh at the tableside
with a twist on the original recipe offering a choice of crispy
pancetta, smoked salmon, rock lobster or roasted chicken. Saffron
risotto with a whole Phuket lobster, asparagus and fondue of Roma
tomatoes is paired with a Sandalford semillon-sauvignon blanc,
while consomme of Roma tomatoes with king crab meat, basil and
avocado is matched with Pouilly Fume Pascal Jolivet from the Loire
Valley in France. This is rustic Italian cuisine with an emphasis on
family-style dining and a focus on sharing.
WINE: An extensive list of both New and Old World wines including a few labels from Thailand. It is good to see wine pairings on the food menu.
SERVICE: Professional, efficient and well trained as one expects from a five-star hotel.
PRICE: Dinner for two without wine will cost about 3,000 baht. |
