SETTING: A beachfront open-air hut that is more exotic tropical than classical Italian. A large mirror reflects life on the beach.
FOOD: Presenting itself as modern Italian, the menu is compact and offers a range of red meats, poultry, a large selection of seafood and a generous variety of pasta. It offers a choice rather than a challenge
when ordering. Modern Italian means classic recipes have been given
a twist appropriate for today with the emphasis on light and easy.
Tomato caprese is served vertically with a sprig of rosemary to hold the
slices it together; a functional and well-thought out presentation, fresh,
tasty and perfect for lunch by the beach. Then order beef lasagna, a generous portion with fresh tomato sauce topped by two slices of garlic bread. Simple, honest food cooked well using quality ingredients. Indulgence is not a sin when it is a chocolate mousse - a justifiable luxury to end a meal. Espresso lovers may find this a tad weak here.
WINE: A very good selection of New and Old World wines plus a couple of Thai labels.
SERVICE: Professional yet appropriately relaxed service.
PRICE: A meal for two will cost about 3,000 baht excluding wines. |
