SETTING: Tan sandstone walls cut with dark wood and heavy carpeting along with warm lighting and modish furnishings create a romantic ambience.
FOOD: Indus serves northern Indian cuisine with a healthy twist and a slight moderation of the spices. The chef's recommended menu changes weekly and there are more than 10 vegetarian dishes available. The complimentary samosa and papadum served in the beginning come with a choice of three delicious sauces: mint, sweet mango with spices and tamarind-tomato. Spinach and cottage cheese curry is highly recommended while lamb curry is tender and aromatic. Be sure to order garlic naan to accompany the curries. Chicken tikka kati roll has just the right amount of aromatic filling and grilled red snapper fillet is not too dry. Kheer is suggested for dessert and finish off with a cup of masala tea.
WINE: Indus boasts an extensive list of wines, all chosen to match curries and spices.
SERVICE: Half the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, while the other half struggles.
PRICE: Dinner for two without wine is about 2,000 baht. |
