SETTING: Hidden away among sculptured gardens, the restaurant has bay windows giving an open and airy feeling day or night.
FOOD: The wonder of really great Thai food is its ability to dazzle all the senses. Kinnaree scores top marks here as it presents dishes as a feast for the eyes. A lot of thought has gone into presentation with the right containers, condiments, garnishes and even cutlery chosen to complement the visuals of the actual food. More importantly, all fresh ingredients are used to their optimum. An example of this is spicy pomelo salad with chicken and crab, which has shredded roast peanuts added to enhance flavour and aroma. Another is stir-fried prawns in black pepper sauce; the jumbo prawns and whole peppercorns give a kingsize feel to the dish. Special attention is paid to salad and seafood selections. There is a good vegetarian menu and a Western dessert menu that would give any five-star restaurant a run for the money.
WINE: Small list that goes well with Thai food.
SERVICE: Good knowledge of dishes and excellent English language skills.
PRICE: A meal for two without wine will cost about 1,500 baht. |
