SETTING: With floor-to-ceiling windows and concrete floors, Kuppa is a chic and modern restaurant set in a loft-style house.
FOOD: A colourful menu offering unique international fare along with a number of Thai-inspired specialities makes this restaurant, run by interior designer Robin Jertjun Lourvanij, a popular dining spot among Thais and foreigners alike. With an all-day breakfast selection, Kuppa is also an ideal place to brunch on weekends. Served with orange marmalade and toasted baguette, port wine duck liver parfait is a sweet way to start. For a main course, lamb cutlets on basil polenta with ratatouille and mint yoghurt is a definite winner, while crispy duck and wild mushroom risotto is just as well worth trying; both come in generous portions. For those who prefer a lighter dish there are the house's various salads, gourmet sandwiches and delightful quiches. A choice of home-made desserts tempts one to indulge all the way.
WINE: Not especially extensive but presents reasonable choices.
SERVICE: Waiters are friendly and attentive though communication can slow things down.
PRICE: Without drinks, expect to pay about 2,000 baht. |
