SETTING: Situated at the Dusit Laguna at Bang Tao Beach, La Trattoria is in a prime location. The interior is crisp white with blue
trimmings.
FOOD: Chef Claudio Cucciarelli hails from Rome and his cuisine is inventive and attractive, and effortlessly complements this pleasant restaurant. His carpaccio di gamberi is a wonderfully light starter as is panzella with mixed vegetables, croutons and mozzarella cheese in balsamic vinegar dressing. Duck ravioli with red bellpepper sauce is done to a turn and proves a colourful dish. Australian beef tenderloin with taleggio cheese sauce served with polenta and porcini mushrooms gives the opportunity for the chef to prove his mettle and he does so effortlessly; the beef yields perfectly and with the sauce results in a winning dish. Nougat parfait served with caramel and almond is also a colourful dish and rounds a wonderful culinary experience off well.
WINE: La Trattoria has 60 labels in its cellar and its house wine changes monthly.
SERVICE: Discreet and tasteful service and the manager has good English skills.
PRICE: Expect to pay about 1,400 baht for two minus wine. |
