SETTING: Located in Nirvana Place, it is a glitzy restaurant with Manhattan's skyline etched into the windows.
FOOD: The steak, either US or Australian angus beef, can be ordered according to size, as well as degree of cooking, and is generally, 6oz, 10oz, or 18oz, (or larger). Very high standards are maintained and it is fine dining, despite the preponderance of steak. Clams Casino of sauteed clams, bacon, peppers, garlic and oregano glazed with parmesan cheese, served on a bed of sea salt is a great start and tastes as good as it reads on the menu. The portions are not small and are accompanied by a good range of sauces. Wonderful steak knives, but superfluous as the cuts are premium grade. Finish with blueberry sorbet artfully presented in a bowl over ice.
WINE: Around 100 labels, with US wines dominating. There are 14 wines on offer by the glass and the Francis Coppola Diamond Collection is definitely worth sampling.
SERVICE: Three service personnel per table classically attired in black with long aprons. Perhaps overly enthusiastic at times.
PRICE: Expect to pay over 3,000 baht for an exceptional dinner for two, without wines. |
