SETTING: Located on the ground level of Siam Paragon, this spacious, well-lit restaurant has a cafe feeling to it.
FOOD: Amazingly fantastic food which displays a special effort to jazz up familiar dishes. Spring greens with fried shrimp, beans, pork crackling with herbs and a tasty pork dip is excellent and includes flavours to awaken jaded palates. Savoury gourami fish salad is highly recommended, with its explosion of spicy onions, lemongrass, mint and other piquant ingredients spread on crispy pieces of fish. Bean curd and mixed vegetables with minced chicken in gravy is served in a big bowl alongside baby corn, carrots and thin-sliced mushrooms, which balance the wonderful and extremely soft globules of tofu. Green curry with chicken also has a meat version if you prefer beef and comes with a roti. For dessert, macadamia nut chocolate cake is decadent and divine.
WINE: About 40 bottles, mostly red, including champagne too.
SERVICE: Staff is helpful, friendly, while gently offering advice.
PRICE: A meal for two will cost about 1,400 baht, without wine. |
