SETTING: Right in the heart of Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar, this spacious, minimalist restaurant shares the same space with the bar and reception.
FOOD: Eccentric Thai and Western fusion food presented in a style in line with the restaurant's futuristic feel, with some of the coolest looking tableware you will ever see. Caesar salad with soft-shell crab and tuna wrapped in seared seaweed are both good starter options enjoyed with a selection of tasty dips. For the main course, a must-try is lamb shank, a melange of Western and Thai tastes. The steaks, much less fusion and more Western, come with baked potato accompanied by a selection of fillings. The desserts are varied and include nutty caramelised cheesecake, chilled pumpkin custard and orange raisin parfait with forest berries salsa. Moxie's Thai dishes are all not up to par although its khao soi curry noodles is supposed to be among the best in town.
WINE: The wine list is gargantuan. Expect to pay anything from 900 to 7,500 baht.
SERVICE: Well-trained staff, dressed in pinstripes, suspenders and orange bandana.
PRICE: A meal for two minus wine starts at 800 baht and can climb to over 2,000 baht. |
