SETTING: A charming city restaurant near the famed Night Bazaar with both indoor air-conditioned and smoker's canopied outdoor areas.
FOOD: Daily fresh pastas, seafood, meats and other culinary specialities such as black truffles are mostly hits rather than misses at this longestablished
Italian eatery. Start with sauteed mussels with garlic, olive oil and tomato, or jumbo scallops flambe with port and red Danish caviar. Classic seafood dishes are especially delicious, with perfectly cooked dover sole flambe with lemon cream as a menu highlight. Pasta dishes, such as linguini with dark cuttlefish sauce and squid or ravioli filled with artichoke and cream, are also delicious, large portion options. A meat grill offers a wide range of carne dishes and chef Angelo Faro garnishes each dish himself with great style.
WINE: A very fine selection of mainly Italian wines that usually benefit from the chef's expert recommendation and are all reasonably priced. For example, a bottle of Pinot Grigio Friuli Grave 2005 costs 1,450 baht.
SERVICE: Chef Angelo makes this a very personalised experience, serving most diners himself, making suggestions and at times being slightly intimidating.
PRICE: A three-course dinner for two without wine will cost about 1,500 baht. |
