SETTING: Set in an idyllic cove just beyond Lamai with the option to dine outside on the boulder formations under a canopy of stars. A popular venue for wedding ceremonies.
FOOD: Chef Tawee Pieanpattanakit serves an excellent selection of European and Thai food establishing Rocky's as one of the most well-known and respected restaurants on the island. For a light starter consider fresh melon and parma ham drizzled with honey lemon vinaigrette or house speciality, Rocky's seafood soup with a creamy tomato base, rich with a mix of seafood flavours. Fish lovers should try grilled king fish on potato cake served with garlic, capers and white wine sauce, artistically presented and very satisfying. Or choose from a good selection of pastas; black spaghetti with prawns in a creamy Pernod sauce is a house special. For dessert consider hot mango crumble served with vanilla ice cream. Thai dishes on offer represent the traditional favourites.
WINE: A good wine list with prices ranging from 900 to 2,000 baht.
SERVICE: Friendly and courteous staff although occasionally lacking in English.
PRICE: A three-course meal costs about 1,800 baht for two, without wine. |
