SETTING: Torches flicker around the hotel grounds revealing paddy fields and stunning architecture surrounding the restaurant.
FOOD: The food at Terraces has improved dramatically from before and the menu consists of many more adventurous and intriguing dishes. Being one of the hotel's only two restaurants, it serves the usual array of pastas, pizzas and burgers, but also offers some innovative and creative dishes which should satisfy most. Start off with pan-seared smoked duck breast, which comes with a mushysoft chestnut and potato mash, then move onto feather-light
cappellini al granchio, angel hair pasta with golden-fried soft-shell crab, or crispy sofia pizza with parma ham, mushrooms, tomato and mozzarella topping. Do leave room for the desserts, notably the desserts sampler that includes the chef's personal favourites.
WINE: Old World wines with a healthy smattering of New World, at affordable prices.
SERVICE: The waiters are well informed about each dish, and also help to make decisions on wine selection for each dish.
PRICE: A meal for two without wine comes up to 3,000 baht. |
