SETTING: A modest-sized restaurant, it offers a choice of tranquil outdoor garden or indoor seating overlooking the river.
FOOD: A firm favourite in the area and enjoys a superb reputation for repeat clientele. Chef Yannick Tirbois and hostess Ilse Dumont present a very thoughtful menu, with a lot of attention to details, starting with complimentary salmon mousse canapes served with pre-dinner drinks. Order wild boar pate with cherry brandy jelly and onion jam, a sensational mix of flavours, or opt for the lighter mixed salad with a generous serving of crumbled blue cheese, served with warm breads and herb butter. The mains are exceptional; slow-cooked lamb jarret with Mediterranean spices is an absolute knockout, succulent with the meat falling off the bone. Roasted monk fish with crispy bacon and creamy spinach offers a scrumptious medley of flavours. For dessert, roasted coconut creme brulee is an excellent choice.
WINE: Though the list is not extensive, the selection is well chosen and reasonably priced, providing a good match to the cuisine.
SERVICE: Warm, friendly and attentive service without being intrusive.
PRICE: Two can enjoy a meal for about 1,600 baht, without wine. |
