SETTING: The Rachamankha is tastefully decorated with regional arts and antiques and offers classy indoor dining as well as al fresco in a tranquil courtyard.
FOOD: The menu is very wide ranging and should satisfy most palates and preferences. Do not stick to traditional dishes, instead opt for the exotic fusion available such as succulent duck breast soaked in balsamic chocolate sauce, saffron clear soup with snowfish or avocado salad with melted mozzarella. Some fascinatingly alluring regional dishes manage to combine elements from Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese and Burmese cuisines.
The food is playful, generously portioned and artfully presented. Recommended mains include spicy duck vindaloo (Myanmar style), grilled rock lobster with lemongrass, kaffir leaves and hung-le cream dressing.
WINE: The wine list, while not very large, has been well selected to complement the more spicy regional dishes.
SERVICE: Friendly and helpful staff though at times orders get lost in translation.
PRICE: A meal for two persons without wine costs about 1,500 to 1,800 baht. |
