FOOD: The menu includes tempting Japanese photographs featuring sashimi, shabu shabu and grilled fish. Begin with tokujo sashimi, an assortment of imported Japanese toro, hamachi, salmon and scallops. Seaweed salad is visually attractive but surprisingly bland. Shabu lovers should try the attractively presented tounyu niku set, a rich, creamy soy soup filled with shabu beef and vegetables and cooked on an electric stove at your table. Spicy food aficionados can liven this dish up by adding the accompanying sauce of chilli, garlic and lime. Top off with ikura nigiri, two big chunks of sushi nigiri with salmon roe on top. End with ice cream crepe or soy pudding. |

WINE: A small list of moderately priced (680-1,200 baht) wines from France, Australia and Chile. Umeboshi (pickled plum) or pineapple sour sodas offer good alternatives. |
