SETTING

Located at The Ascott, Aldo’s is an invitingly stylish venue. The interior offers tables looking out on the pool and a bar area with views over the city. Tables outside are in teak cabanas by the pool, with ceiling fans and mosquito nets ensuring a romantic dining experience.

FOOD

A new chef has just taken over and the menu continues with a distinctly Mediterranean flavour, ranging from salads and soups to seafood, pasta, pizza and a selection of regional specialities. Lobster avocado timbale is a refreshingly light dish, with the addition of pomelo and served with a lightly dressed rocket salad. Try tiger prawns sauteed with garlic paste and served with pita bread, which makes an excellent appetiser. Coq au vin, tender chicken with mushrooms, baby onions and gratinated potatoes cooked in red wine is recommended. The stand-out among the signature dishes is duck leg Provencale, which is roasted duck leg confit with garlic potatoes, mushroom fricassee and served with rosemary jus. Vegetarian options abound in the pasta and risotto selections available, whilst fish-lovers will appreciate soft-shell crab salad, fritto misto and bouillabaisse Marseillaise. On the dessert front, warm melting chocolate cake, served with a refreshing strawberry sorbet, is a mouth-watering finale.
