SETTING
Mustard-coloured walls cloister rooms offset with white pillars, lending a Greek look and feel to this neat, tidy establishment. Evocative
Greek ballads, candle-lit tables and displays of flowers and souvenirs create a tranquil mood.
FOOD
Try Athena’s unique flavours and generous meals to amaze your appetite. Though Greek peasant’s salad offers no lettuce, it abounds with tomatoes, cucumbers, capers, olives, green peppers, feta cheese and onions. Hummus dip arrives as a nice paste of garbanzo beans, garlic, olive oil, lemon and sesame, which is almost chewy because
of its thick lusciousness; scoop with thin pita bread. Spanakorizo spinach is highly recommended because its rice-speckled mixture of onions, garlic, lemon, dill, olive oil and condiments gives this generous portion of greens a wonderful robustness. Kotopoulo chicken is a big leg grilled with spices, including oregano, alongside potatoes and other treats. Alaiares fish comes with onions in tomato sauce and a side of potatoes. Soups, vegetarian dishes, grilled beef and other meat tempt in a crowded menu which also offers other seafood
choices. For dessert, you must try alaniares, tasty peach or apricot with yoghurt and cinnamon.
WINES
A very modest list includes an adequate red Mont Fluer, Bouchon Superior, Palamidi wine. Merlot also flows well with these meals.
SERVICE
Quiet, efficient, personalised service by English-speaking staff cloaks diners with friendly and supportive help.
PRICE
For just under 2,000 baht, two people can
be satiated with great food, without wine.
