SETTING
Cy’an is located at the chic Metropolitan hotel. It is a contemporary and airy restaurant dominated by white tones with crisp and clean decor. There is also an outdoor seating area that offers a view of the swimming pool.
FOOD
Australian executive chef Amanda Gale focuses on sourcing the freshest and best quality ingredients. This Mediterranean-inspired
restaurant emphasises seafood combined with the subtle accents of eastern spices. The cuisine is healthy and uses fresh, organic ingredients. Though the list is not extensive, it is a well thought out menu. A popular starter is ricotta, lemon and mint tortellini with seared tiger prawns, pine nuts, raisins and parmesan; the carefully seared prawns are slightly crispy on the outside and fresh and tender on the inside. For the main dish, whole roast south Australian crayfish comes live from the tank in a sizzling hot container. The crustacean is very fresh and huge, with delicious and flavourful spicing from fried garlic, chilli and marjoram. For dessert, try refreshing sweet and sour tamarind souffle which rounds off the meal nicely.
WINES
There are wines from Italy, France, Spain, Chile, Australia, the US, New Zealand, Argentina, South Africa and Thailand, ranging from 1,450
all the way to 200,000 baht per bottle.
SERVICE
The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and good with recommendations. Unusual ingredients such as muscatel, mulloway and sebago potatoes can be explained to the diner.
PRICE
A meal for two costs under 5,000 baht.
