SETTING
A large, outdoor patio-style space is complemented by an indoor sushi bar setup. Modern-styled wood furniture and flooring dominate the look and a central fish pool with large rocks provides a focal point.
FOOD
Japanese traditionalists would wonder about a menu that features some dishes using kiwi fruit, mango, avocado or crab stick, not to
mention mayonnaise, however the chef makes good use of these and other ingredients to produce dishes that are flavourful and interesting.
Do not get the wrong impression, however, because there are all of the usual traditional Japanese varieties represented here as well
including teppanyaki, agemono, sukiyaki, yakimono and a good selection of sashimi and sushi. The hand-rolled sushi items combine some traditional ingredients mixed with more adventurous products to good effect. And the stylised, almost nouvelle, presentations highlight
the updated approach the chef has chosen to take. Favourite tastes include grilled duck breast with white leek and Australian beef teppanyaki.
WINES
Although the wine list is quite small, the house wines are good. The prices shown are reasonable.
SERVICE
The staff members are not that well trained considering the restaurant is located in a five-star hotel, as they may have problems serving a full room, although on a quiet night things are okay. The kitchen is timely, however.
PRICE
A full meal for two is anywhere from 1,500-2,000 baht.
