SETTING
This stylish Italian restaurant was the first completed as part of the hotel’s comprehensive renovation. It has a modern look with bright red bottles lining glass walls together with wood and bamboo. High ceiling and large windows add to the bright and spacious feel. There is an open kitchen at one end.
FOOD
Available are antipasti, pizzas, soup, salad, risotto, pasta and main courses of fish and meat. Il Cielo signature dishes include black mussel soup and creamy asparagus risotto with pan-seared duck liver. Some appetisers are available in servings for two persons (650 baht) and for four persons (1,300 baht). Pastas are available in combination platters for two, four and six persons ranging in price from 650 to 1,950 baht. The starter of baked eggplant and zucchini with mozzarella cheese, parma ham and tomato is most aromatic, with each ingredient adding to the flavours. Il Cielo pizza is paper thin and tasty from tomato, mozzarella, arugula, parma ham, parmesan and truffle oil. Spaghetti with Phuket lobster and mushrooms in a zesty tomato sauce is not to be missed. A delicious and healthy dish is zucchini-wrapped sea bream with almond sauce, beetroot carpaccio and salmon roe. Tiramisu makes an excellent dessert – not too sweet and not too rich.
WINES
Fine white and red wines from South Africa, Australia, France, Italy, New Zealand, USA, Spain, Chile and Thailand are available at a range of prices.
SERVICE
Courteous waitstaff in neat attire is attentive with recommendations, orders and comments.
PRICE
The tab comes to under 2,500 baht for two persons without wine.
