SETTING
This handsome, wood-panelled, bright and modern restaurant displays a small chandelier and recessed ceiling lighting which accentuates subtle Chinese motifs. Some of the stone tables are situated along windows which view busy Ratchadapisek Road.
FOOD
Some of the most meticulous Cantonese dishes available in Bangkok. Prawn mango roll brings fresh spring rolls stuffed with cubes of fruit and tiny seafood. Shredded abalone with mixed fruit salad presents this seafood as an appetiser and is a nice blend of tastes. Sweet and
sour pork is cooked in the classic, familiar style with breaded chunks of meat in a tangy sauce amid red and green peppers, pineapple and
onions. Sauteed broccoli with black mushroom in oyster sauce lavishes generous portions of each. Five nuts is magnificent with broccoli, cashews, gingko, water chestnuts, dates and other ingredients. Peking duck’s skin is delicately sliced to remove all meat and fat, while the meat can be prepared with garlic or black pepper or minced. To end the meal, choose from a list of classic Chinese desserts including delicious fried date pancake.
WINES
A moderate selection of wines from old and new worlds is available, plus Chinese wine including Moutai and Shao Hsing.
SERVICE
English may be limited among some staff, but seniors who are fluent are always nearby to effortlessly assure perfection.
PRICE
Two people can enjoy a good meal for about 2,000 baht, without wine.
