SETTING
Two-tone painted walls clash with stone facings and a mish-mash of hanging artwork to create a slightly off-beat ambience that is, however, relaxing and comfortable due also to soft chairs and plenty of cream-coloured woodwork.
FOOD
This menu is ambitious in its attempt to cover as many Italian culinary basics as possible and the styles range from pizzeria to trattoria to fine dining and seafood. Most will be pleased with the traditional selections here and the occasional personal interpretation of a classic dish by the chef such as caesar salad with bacon, enoki mushrooms and cashews. Standby dishes like seafood soup, beef carpaccio and sauteed spinach are competently done and the same can be said for saltimbocca and sauteed salmon. A heavy, rich dish like orecchiette with broccoli and gorgonzola cheese works well also and is one of 19 different pasta offerings which also include spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli and penne. Pizzas are considered a house speciality due to a wood-fired oven on the second floor and 10 are offered
along with a couple of calzones.
WINES
All wines are Italian and most are low priced, at 1,000-1,200 per bottle. The house red and white, at 120 per glass, represent good value.
SERVICE
The wait staff is relatively competent but not as attentive or as personable as they could be. However, requests are handled promptly
and the orders appear in a timely manner.
PRICE
A three-course meal for two is anywhere from 1,300-1,600 baht.
