SETTING
The restaurant has seating under pine trees that whisper in the breeze, adding a counterpoint to the rhythmic washing up of the surf only a few metres from your table. Low lighting adds to the romantic effect.
FOOD
The simplicity of the menu underscores what is the basic theme of the restaurant – fresh ingredients prepared in basic ways but with great
skill. With few exceptions, the seafood is all fresh from the Gulf of Thailand and the beef is all imported from Australia. Five different steaks are on offer including a delectable 7-oz rib-eye that is perfectly prepared and a large T-bone. Seafood that can be grilled is priced in 100-gram servings and includes Phuket lobster, sea bass, garoupa,
river prawns, squid, blue crab and others. A few soups and appetisers round out the menu; chilled gazpacho is a perfect soup for our climate and cream of pumpkin with shrimp is also very interesting. Superb smoked salmon is a great starter, smooth and silky in texture, subtle and scintillating to taste. Refreshing salads include
Greek salad with a salty feta influence and grilled fillet of beef salad with Thai dressing.
WINES
A good-sized list features wines from seven countries, including Thailand. House wines by the glass are well chosen and good value for
money, featuring shiraz, semillon and semillon chardonnay varietals.
SERVICE
The servers are confident, relaxed and experienced. They know their job and are friendly and helpful, especially with the wine.
PRICE
A meal for two is from 2,500-3,000 baht.
